Anthology

We are excited to announce our next Pen & Pier Anthology. This year it has the theme of “Ocean”. Last year we did a writing challenge for a month around the theme of “Reverse Tropes” then organized an anthology with those who completed a story and wanted to contribute. That first anthology stayed in-house and was not published formally.

This year we are looking to expand on the anthology in a few key ways:

  • We will be publishing the anthology this time! Online on the website as well as through Amazon self-publish for both ebook and print on demand.
  • We are giving our writers three months to work on the story so that the pieces that are submitted are your best writing. You will have time to think of a good story, drafting, and getting feedback.
    • We strongly encourage all anthology interested writers to take advantage of our monthly critique sessions to get feedback and improve on their anthology short story.
  • We will be taking ample time to edit/connect with authors to improve their pieces post deadline.
  • A mock-up will be made available to the Pen & Pier community for final edits/feedback prior to publishing.
  • A promotional period using online tools (the website, social media, and Discord) will precede our publishing date.
  • We are also looking for Ocean-themed cover art. We will choose one piece for the cover. We will try to use as many pieces as possible inside the finished publication. One submission per person. The same rejection criteria and rules as for the stories apply to works of art.

So get to your writing stations and start an amazing Ocean-themed story!
